Issue #4 of The Kove follows Katie's photography as the San Diego comedy scene deals with a pandemic, an essay on Ben Franklin and pirates, and a summer playlist to listen to as you peruse the pages.

Quarantine Fever

Quarantine Fever

To be stuck at home
For weeks on end
With nothing to do,
Not shop, not spend.

To lie on your carpet,
Scream loud as you can,
’Til the neighbors use their broomsticks,
This time, with the wrong end.

Download every piece of content
And sink into your couch.
Find a crumb in your hair,
Toss it into your mouth.

No need to motivate
Cause who really cares?
Zoom can’t see your sweats
Or the knots in your hair.

‘No time for a shower,
It’s only season three!’
With my parent’s password,
Who needs a marquee?

We live in the Sun
But haven’t left our place.
It’s been 14,000 days
Of giving you space.

But today feels different,
I’d like some fresh air.
A simple, little walk
Makes me brush my teeth and my hair.

This whole time inside
And the clouds seem delighted.
I wonder if they were happy
Finally getting to be reunited?
