Issue #4 of The Kove follows Katie's photography as the San Diego comedy scene deals with a pandemic, an essay on Ben Franklin and pirates, and a summer playlist to listen to as you peruse the pages.

The Spring Edit is your post-hibernation playlist.

Full of all the fresh, springtime vibes you need.

I think I can speak on behalf of Millennials when I say, “It’s been fun, but are we done yet?”

As a Millennial, I’ve had my twenties in the old world, which was fun but I’m SO glad they’re over. Then I turned 31 at the start of the pandemic so my thirties have been in a weird state of isolation that really made me think about what I wanted to do and what I had been doing. That’s when I took the opportunity to rebuild things the way I wanted to (hence, the rebirth of The Kove).

Now, at the end of year one of the pandemic, we’re seeing the first signs of life appear and I am ready to work.

This playlist is my dream of celebrating walking outside, bare-faced, fresh breeze, and warm sunshine. It’s the soundtrack to the scene in the movie where you look around after the longest winter on record and see that, soon, there will be an enormous Spring across the world.

This is the point of the textbook where they talk about what lead to the Renaissance of the mid-to-late '20’s, the first upswing after global depression.

So go outside, squint as you show your face to the Sun, absorb the energy. Appreciate what we do have, what’s unchanged, what is beautiful. Take the time now to see the small things because life Is about to move pretty fast and if you don’t stop

Hit play on The Spring Edit and remember, life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you might miss it.
